Ceramic Spacers
Ceramic Spacers for Friction Reduction
Spacers are machining components which are used between movable parts, such as between rods and sockets, in order to reduce friction which can lead to rapid wear. Ceramic spacers are often used in various industries, due to the fact that ceramic materials have a superior hardness which makes them resistant to abrasion. Ceramic spacers perform well and are able to grind grit and dust down to fine powder when it becomes wedged between spacers and other components, thus preventing blockages.
Materials Used to Make Ceramic Spacers
The materials used to make ceramic spacers are not the materials used to make ovenware and crockery, but are industrial-strength ‘technical ceramics’, which mostly do not contain any clay. Some technical ceramics are oxides, such as Aluminum Oxide which possesses the trade name of ‘Alumina’, while others are carbides (Silicon Carbide) or compound substances including both kinds of substances. In addition to ceramic spacers, ceramic machining manufacturers also make a wide range of other components, including standard industrial parts such as guides, washers, and insulators.
